One rainy evening in Tokyo, over 8 years ago, I met Thomas Bey William Bailey. We talked at length about obscure electronic music and missing our last trains home, we whiled away the hours in a karaoke room singing Happy End & Ayumi Hamasaki until the sun rose. Soon after we formed a group with our good friend Jason Funk (Helll), named ourselves after a line in a Truffaut film (Bien Victor) and recorded straight to MD in several cheap practice spaces around Tokyo. We both ended up leaving Tokyo and moving back to North America, but kept in touch, even finding an opportunity to play together again here in Toronto several years ago. Thomas has continued to produce challenging and inimitable electronic music and has now published his first book, Micro Bionic, on radical sound art.
We are very proud to offer copies of TBWB’s brilliant Progressive Lycanthropy cassette and accompanying essay A Weapon For The Wolf Age which was released on the estimable Mirror Tapes label in November 2010 and is sold out almost everywhere. We also have the pleasure of stocking his very cool limited edition Cymatic T-shirts which are based on Hans Jenny’s experiments for sculpting matter with tone generators. Get ‘em while you can!
