Kanada 70 – Meagre Means
Mysterious CD-Rs have been appearing in records stores across Toronto for the last few years, all housed in photocopied Letraset sleeves with a $0.00 price sticker on the front, all under the moniker Kanada 70, the nom-de-plume of Craig Dunsmuir (Glissandro 70, Max Gross). Culling from several of these releases between 2006 and 2010, all recorded at home on a TASCAM digital 8-Track, Meagre Means reveals the musically literate range of Kanada 70; from Dusseldorf to Detroit, Mali to Berlin; at times angular and deconstructed, propulsive and motorik, and even popped and jacking. Meagre Means is the Polyphasic guide to the verdant DIY world of Kanada 70. This album is an absolute must for fans of Moebius & Beerbohm, Pan Sonic, Mr. Fingers, Thomas Mapfumo and Basic Channel.
In keeping with the K70 xeroxed sleeve tradition, this download comes with a ‘print-your-own-sleeve’ PDF.
